What is something that you admire about how things worked at The Alice in 2015, it's 1st year?
The Alice has always been warm, inviting, and lively. All of the art and literature and texture together felt like a family. The made a great place to test out ideas before an audience that is simultaneously supportive and rigorous.
What are you interested in bringing to the conversation that hasn’t already been established at the Alice?
We should address how the gallery space itself relates to its neighborhood and surroundings. What is the meaning of being where we are, when we are?
What do you make yourself?
My creative ethos is “by any means necessary, in whatever form best suits it.” Artefacts include the traditional design of buildings and objects, legislation, city planning, conceptual documentary photography, and modifications to building code. But I make very little by myself. Most of what I do is collaborative by nature.
What keeps you up at night?
I write a lot of love letters and proposals, only a few of which ever get finished and sent.
What is something particular you look forward to learning more about or thinking more about when you are working with each of the 3 other people?
Who are collaborators’ ancestors? Not only their heritage, but their intellectual and creative ancestors. Why they do what they do. What they get out of it. What they hope to leave with us.
